On February 6, the Student Senate passed a modified version of the bill to modify the Election Regulations. This bill stipulated a monetary change in the amount of filing fees for Senate candidates.

Later in the meeting, two more bills were passed in Open Session. One bill stipulated that all filing fees be revised in accordance with the formerly revised fees for Senate and Student Body President candidates, and the final bill reset the changes to the filing fees that occurred over the span of the night.

Senator Colt Clemens has filed a case in Judicial Court refuting the legitimacy of this final bill. I will post any public case files and any decisions after the conclusion of the case.

As of now, the Election Commission is continuing with its operations assuming that the bills passed by the Student Senate are enacted as intended, which means no change in filing fees has been made. However, we are holding off on distributing filing packets until these cases are fully resolved.
